I’m having a graphic moment right now because I was at the de Young museum recently in search of Walasse Ting’s 1 ¢ Life, a collection of poems. It was quite the learning experience for me, as I learned that Walasse Ting (1929 – 2010, a Chinese poet and artist) collaborated with many contemporary artists to create his book.
Artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein contributed lithographs to create Ting’s now highly collectible book. My favorite poem of the day, and the only poem I know by heart:
SUN IN STOMACH
NEW MOON IN EYES
I WANT A HAMBURGER
LOAN ME TWO DOLLARS
Besides the awesome art, I’m having Warhol on the brain because of the graphic prints I saw when I was re-watching the Spring 2014 runway shows. I think pop art is totally in for spring – check out some runway looks and read some Walasse Ting poems for inspiration. Rock graphic looks your own way this spring! #wearwarhol
